Soil settlement, the gradual shifting and sinking of the ground beneath a concrete slab, can lead to cracks and instability. This is often caused by changes in moisture (especially in clay soils),  loose or poorly compacted soil, changes in land activity (such as construction or earthquakes), and voids caused by pests and rodents. 

These factors create gaps beneath the slab, compromising its support. Void filling technique with polyurethane foam injection can fill these voids, stabilizing the soil and lifting the concrete back into place, effectively restoring its strength and preventing further damage.

Soil erosion or settling beneath a concrete slab occurs when water, often due to poor drainage, heavy rain, or fluctuations in groundwater, washes away or weakens the supporting soil. As the soil erodes or settles, the concrete slab loses its stable foundation, leading to sinking, cracking, and potential structural damage. 

Soil stabilization using Prime Resin polyurethane foam can effectively strengthen the compromised soil, preventing further erosion and damage. This acts as a reinforcement for the soil, injected beneath the slab to create a dense, supportive base. This stops further erosion and lifts the settled slab back to its original position.

Water is one of concrete’s biggest enemies. Excessive moisture from rain, poor drainage, or leaks can damage concrete, causing cracks and spalling. This excess water can also saturate the underlying soil, leading to erosion and voids. 

Void filling can address these gaps, while soil stabilization can reinforce the weakened soil with polyurethane foam. Properly directing water away from concrete surfaces is crucial to prevent soil erosion and maintain the slab’s structural integrity.

Poor drainage around concrete slabs can lead to soil washout, causing significant damage. When water isn’t properly directed away from the slab, it saturates the soil beneath, eroding it and creating voids. This weakens the slab’s foundation, resulting in cracks, sinking, and instability. 

Soil stabilization and filling any voids created by the washout with polyurethane foam can reinforce the weakened soil. Additionally, addressing the poor drainage issue can prevent further damage and maintain the integrity of the concrete.

Repeated freezing and thawing cycles can cause the soil beneath your concrete to expand and contract, leading to cracking and unevenness over time.

If the soil isn’t properly compacted before pouring the concrete, it can settle later, leaving your slabs unsupported and creating voids. This issue stems from air pockets trapped within the soil, which compress over time under the weight of the concrete, leading to cracks and uneven surfaces. 

To prevent further settlement and stabilize the slab, polyurethane foam injection can be used to fill the voids and densify the loose soil particles, providing a more stable base for the concrete.
