The Solution: Basement Drainage & Sump Pump Installation

Step 1: Preparation & Vapor Barrier Installation
- We began by clearing the basement space to prepare for the new system. A 20′ vapor barrier was installed along the walls to protect the basement from moisture and create a moisture-resistant barrier.
Step 2: Excavation & Trenching
- Installed under-slab basement drain in the trench to capture and direct water.
- Connected the interior drain to the sump pump for active water management.
Step 3: Drainage System Installation
- Transparent drainage matting was laid over the trench, followed by a layer of gravel. This setup allows water to flow smoothly toward the sump pump, ensuring efficient water movement and preventing moisture accumulation.
Step 4: Basement Sump Pump Installation
- A high-performance sump pump was installed in the corner of the basement. This sump pump actively removes excess water, preventing any water buildup and ensuring the basement remains dry during heavy rain or storms.
Step 5: French Drain Excavation & Installation
- We excavated a 30’–40′ trench outside near the egress window and installed a Landscape French drain system lined with HydraWay drainage and gravel to direct water away from the foundation.
- The drain was then connected to the sump pump inside the basement, ensuring efficient water removal from both the exterior and interior.
Step 6: Egress Window Well Cover Installation
- We installed a durable, moisture-resistant cover over the egress window well to prevent water accumulation and keep debris out. This cover helps protect the basement from outside water entering through the window well, ensuring a dry and secure environment.
Step 7: Backfilling & Final Touches
- The window well was fitted with a durable, moisture-resistant cover to prevent further water accumulation and protect the basement from outside water entering.
